What ever happened to Rosemary Kennedy?

Completed - 52'

In 1941, Rosemary Kennedy, JFK's little sister, disappears from public life after suffering a lobotomy ...

Synopsis

“In the 1930s, Rosemary Kennedy shone on the photos alongside her brothers JFK or Bobby, leaving nothing to guess about her suffering, nor the slight mental retardation she suffered from birth. But in 1941, at 23, she suddenly disappears from public life after suffering a lobotomy decided by his father.

What has really happened to him? Why did the patriarch of the most famous dynasty in the United States condemn his eldest daughter to a life of recluse, away from the world and from her own family? For the first time, a documentary returns on what remains to this day the most terrible secret of the Kennedy.

Patrick Jeudy revisits the history of the Kennedy family in light of Rosemary’s misguided fate. In this documentary entirely composed of archives, it recreates an atmosphere halfway between melodrama and film noir, and tells us the heartbreaking story of a young woman sacrificed by her, because her fragility did not fit with the ambitions of the clan. “
